How to Enter the Art World… After with Hettie Judah
Amici Studio is pleased to host a live event with Hettie Judah to mark the publication of her book How to Enter the Art World… After.
Hettie’s book is dedicated to all artists who have taken a non-linear paths into artistic practice — after a late start, a first career, periods of care, illness, interruption or change. Drawing on years of conversations with artists and arts professionals, she challenges the idea of a single, prescribed route through the art world, opening up space for alternative trajectories and lived experiences.
The session will begin with four short presentations by artists living in or near Hastings. This is a chance to share some of your recent work and ideas. Please email howtoentertheartworldafter@gmail.com before 24 April with ‘Amici Studios’ in the subject line if you would like to present your work during this session. Names will be selected at random.
The presentations will be followed by a relaxed hour-long Q&A with Hettie in which everyone is invited to participate and pose their burning questions. (This all-Q&A format was developed by the artist Ghislaine Leung, who features in the book.) Together, the evening will move between individual practices and shared discussion, reflecting on how artists navigate entry, re-entry and continuity within the art world.
The evening will conclude with informal drinks, conversation, and an opportunity to purchase signed copies of the book.
Running time approx. 2 hours.
Tickets £5
(Free for concessions and unwaged — email community@amici.art )
